This Subject aims to promote an interest in, and enjoyment of, the study of living organisms and covers the principles of biology in the plant and animal kingdoms. It addresses the contribution of this science to our modern society by looking at related social, economic and environmental issues. The additional themes usually studied in human biology aare physiology, genetics and evolution. The subject is underpinned by experimental work in the laboratory. Practical work contributes to the final A level grade.
