English Language and Literature provides you with the opportunity to study the history, structure and use of the English language as a medium of both written and spoken expression. You will learn how to analyse a variety of language texts, focusing on the different ways the language is used in order to achieve different purposes for different audiences. A part of this study will focus on spoken English in speeches, conversations and drama. You will also study literary texts, again with a special focus on how language is used for literary effect.
