The English and Comparative Literature major offers courses in creative, expository, and technical writing; linguistics; literary studies; and literature. This is a broad-based major that requires proficiency in a number of approaches, from historical, generic, and theoretical, to the study of language and literature. Students may also choose to focus more narrowly on literature, writing, linguistics, or technical communication. English majors prepare for careers in teaching and research, advertising and publishing, radio and television…any field in which communication and critical judgment go hand-in-hand.
