Our specialisation in radio broadcasting is highly regarded throughout New Zealand networks and you will become confident in all professional aspects needed to excel in radio broadcasting. In our highly practical programme we provide you with the skills and theory in professional radio broadcasting. We develop your understanding of the changing media environment, your practical research skills and prepare you for a first time position in radio. You will study production and performance while operating a commercial radio station, with your programme broadcast throughout the greater Canterbury region. Our programme has been strongly influenced by industry groups such as The Radio Network, Mediaworks and The Radio Broadcasters Association. Our six month industry internship provides a highly effective link between the theory and practical aspects of broadcasting, and gives you a working understanding of the industry demands and working in a deadline driven environment.

When you graduate you may move into stand-alone or network radio stations in roles as diverse as on-air presenting, creative writing, programming, production, sales, marketing, or programme making.
