MPhil in Law

Course Description

Full-time mode: normative of 2 years; maximum of 4 years. The MPhil in Laws Programme is a research degree for students committed to advanced legal research. Admission to the MPhil Programme potentially leads to admission to the PhD Programme, subject to the Faculty’s evaluation of the candidate’s academic performance during his or her MPhil study period. Only a limited number of places are available each year and placement is highly competitive. In their graduating year, students shall submit a thesis which shall be an original piece of work that makes a substantial contribution to learning in the field of law, upon endorsement of their supervisor as to their readiness to submit. Students are also required to pass an oral examination.
