Course Description

This foundation course consists of a variety of units that provide the key knowledge and the practical caring skills required to work in a wide range of care environments. There will be work experience in 4 block placement weeks in a variety of settings during the year. Units covered on this course include the role of the carer at mealtimes, health needs, creative activities for children and promoting healthy eating in care.

Career outcomes

This qualification will allow learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification and therefore learners could be able to enter employment in health care sectors and other health related fields as well as in community work, housing and the voluntary sector. It will also enable learners to progress to a higher vocational qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare or other curriculum areas.
