Our Bachelor of Laws is specifically designed for busy students who want maximum flexibility in their study of law as they manage jobs, family and other commitments. We teach our courses using iPads, iTunesU, Moodle and Collaborate with an unwavering commitment to quality teaching. We have a strong emphasis on developing legal drafting, statutory interpretation, advocacy and research skills together with a commitment to providing a solid legal education designed for legal practice. We also use problem-based learning ensuring your education is both practical and that you graduate work ready. Many of our staff are practicing lawyers. You can take advantage of the skills, knowledge and insights only real practitioners at the coalface can provide. As a CQUniversity law student you will benefit from flexible study options, online community support, smaller class sizes resulting in high quality delivery standards, a personalised teaching approach, and modern teaching methods using current technology. This program can be completed in three years of full-time or four years of part-time study. The Bachelor of Laws program is accredited with the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board of Queensland and covers all the areas of law required to satisfy professional accreditation enabling you to proceed to practice as a legal practitioner after completing the required professional training. During your studies you will learn about legal procedures and key legislation, and you will be given the opportunity to develop skills necessary to identify, analyse and evaluate facts in relation to the legal framework. The areas of law covered in the program include contract, torts, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, property law, equity and trusts, civil procedure, corporations law, commercial law, family law, succession, revenue law, professional practice and jurisprudence. In order to be admitted as a legal practitioner to practice law in Australia, law graduates are required to undergo a period of practical legal training which needs to be completed outside of CQUniversity’s law program.
