Adult Return to Study

Course Description

This course has been designed for adults (at least 5 years out of full-time education) who wish to return to study, but may need to refresh some of their basic skills. The Return to Study course will run from September 2013 to January 2014 (16 hours per week, which is ‘full-time'), and will concentrate on the core skills of English, Numeracy and IT. Vocational ‘tasters' will also be offered in the Creative Industries and Care areas. If successful, students will then be offered the opportunity to progress to one of the college introductory courses (January 2014 to June 2014) in IT, Care or the Creative Industries. All prospective students will be interviewed and offered advice and guidance about the courses available, and their future plans. After admission, all Return to Study students will be offered a programme of ongoing guidance and support in order to reach their full potential. As the course progresses, all students will work through a Personal Learning Support Plan with their Personal Development Tutor.
