This pathway prepares health care workers who are working in a support role to Diagnostic Radiographers. This is to increase their knowledge and skills in supporting patients/service users in clinical imaging settings. The pathway includes 50% core modules which are shared with other health professionals. The other 50% of modules are designed specifically for this group of workers. All modules carry a 20 credit tariff and have work place tasks to introduce new skills and improve competence in practice.
The programme includes a wide range of approaches to learning, teaching and assessment. These will support and retain a diverse range of students, including those from overseas. Students will be actively engaged in the learning process and be encouraged to take part in a range of formative tasks and group discussions to promote critical reflection and self-evaluation, learning new ideas and broadening their experiences. Teaching will largely comprise of lectures and interactive seminars, where students will be required to study in an informative and participative environment and where necessary, appropriate guidance will be provided on reading materials. The modules within the programme are supported by teaching methods appropriate to the topic and level of study and in recognition that work-based learning is integral. The programme promotes work based learning where you learn for and in the workplace, as well as traditional teaching approaches including workshops, debates, group processes, tutorials and skills development in dedicated skills laboratories. Teaching and learning methods are supported by technologies i.e. a Virtual Learning Environment.
