Course Description

The Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30208) provides trainees with a practical approach to caring for the older people within the community. This course equips trainees with the skills to provide physical and social support to elderly individuals and people with psychological disabilities throughout the aged care industry. The course is based on the National Community Services/Aged Care competency standards and reflects nationally endorsed industry requirements. The Certificate IV in Aged Care (CHC40108) is a nationally recognised qualification for Aged Care workers in Australia. Career outcomes

On successful completion of the Certificate III in Aged Care the trainee will have gained the skills and knowledge to work in various entry level positions in the aged care industry. On successful completion of the Certificate IV in Aged Care career opportunities may include Care Supervisors, Care Team Leaders or Program Coordinators. People who pursue a career in aged care and have obtained a Certificate IV in Aged Care practice in residential facilities within defined organizational guidelines and seervice plans. You will carry out activities related to maintenance of an individual's well being through personal care and/or other activities of living. In addition, you may provide services to individuals with complex needs, and/or work with groups of older people. Work may include training and support to promote independence and community participatiion. This may be provided as part of activities and programs in a variety of settings including residential and center based programs. Reporting to service managers and liaison with professionals and other service providers may be part of your duties, and you may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of other workers.
