Course Description

There is no calling like that of an educator, and the strength of your passion is matched by this major. Offered in collaboration with our Graduate School of Education, our program prepares you to teach K-12 and enter teacher credentialing programs at the graduate level. The Interdisciplinary Educational Studies major is designed to prepare students to teach elementary school and earn a multiple subject California preliminary teaching credential. There are two pathways to achieve these goals: The Traditional Program The traditional program consists of four years to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree and two semesters of graduate study through the Department of Learning and Teaching to secure a California preliminary credential. Standard admission procedures apply. Transfer students are welcome. The Integrated Program The integrated program provides a course of study that allows qualified students to complete their Bachelor of Arts degree and their Californian preliminary multiple subject credential in four years. Students must be approved by the Director of Liberal Studies after University admissions for this program.
