AS/A level 3D Ceramic Art

Course Description

Do you enjoy designing and making in clay? Are you good at problem solving, developing your ideas and experimenting with new techniques and processes? If so, this could be the right course for you. A Level 3D Ceramic Art, offers the opportunity of developing your creative 3D skills further through clay and ceramic exploration. The course is mostly practical but combines the teaching of the design process, alongside relevant design and theory work. A level students have the use of a fully equipped Ceramics studio consisting of: 3 electric kilns, 4 electric potters' wheels, glaze area, spray booth and biscuit room. The three dimensional design nature of the course would provide an added body of work for students progressing on to an Art Foundation course, and Art based degree courses. Some examples of careers in the Ceramic Industry are; ceramics decorator, glassmaker, model maker, sculptor, studio potter and ceramicist. This course may also be useful for students wanting to build up and extend a portfolio of work that may complement other subjects, outside of the Arts and a host of other fields such as; Architecture, Spatial Design, Three Dimensional Design, Art Teaching and Museum/gallery work.
