Everything we teach on the course is designed to prepare you for employment in the industry after you graduate. You gain industry insights, collaborate on projects and take on self-directed study, so that you can use all the theory and concepts of accounting and finance in real-world situations. The course teaches you to make important financial decisions, conduct effective performance management, prepare accounts and give sound financial advice. As well as accounting skills, you’ll learn how to judge economic environments and understand how accountancy and finance influences and impacts upon a business. We teach you how to use the programmes and software that you’ll use frequently when you graduate. This includes Sage accounting software, Microsoft Excel and Minitab. One of our former students Hilda Burke used her knowledge of accountancy software to form HBBA Corporate Business Services Ltd during her studies. With the help of our Concept Factory, she built a start-up that specialised in tailor-made bookkeeping and accounting solutions for businesses.
