This intensive course starts in September and finishes in July and is generally delivered over 2 full days per week. You will be expected to carry out a substantial amount of self-study in your own time. There is a mixture of study methods employed on both programmes e.g. lectures, practical experiments, group workshops and discussions to stimulate your interest and enhance your learning. What subject areas will I study? The following areas are covered: • Study Skills: including essay writing, reading, note making, interviewing, examination techniques, and listening skills. • Childcare: including education and its development, equal opportunities and teaching and learning. • Psychology: you will explore the study of human behaviour in various ways such as human development, thinking, intelligence and non-verbal communication.

Career outcomes

On completion of this programme, you could apply for training in a career such as Childhood studies, Education and Learning Support, Teacher Training, Education Studies with Psychology and Counselling. You could also apply for other degrees such as Social Work; Health and Community Studies; Psychology, Youth and Community work. Students wishing to apply to University are advised to contact the relevant admissions tutor with regard to the level of English and Maths required for entry. Likewise students should check that the course is acceptable as an entry qualification for the degree programme they wish to enter.
