Course Description

English is the most 'wired' language on the planet. Aided by new media and the internet, it has become the dominant language of the global village. This major, which sits at the intersection of language and emerging technology, allows you to take your English and new media studies to graduate level, giving you the ability to communicate at a high level in a range of media vital in today's world. Students develop cutting-edge capabilities while developing an e-portfolio of digital artefacts ranging from enhanced podcasts, prezis and blogs, to wikis and webpages. You will learn how language is linked to power and shapes our way of seeing the world. You will be able to critically examine issues of language and emerging technologies, and learn how to communicate powerfully and persuasively.
