Architectural Design and Technology

Course Description

This program offers an Associate of Applied Science degree within Architectural Design and Technology and an Architectural Drafting Certificate. You can also complete a certificate in Residential Drafting, Computer Aided Drafting and other Mini Certificates. You will learn the emerging technologies of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and sustainable design with emphasis on the USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) practices. You will develop BIM skills by creating physical models utilizing three-dimensional plotters and laser cutting equipment. Presentation techniques of student designs are explored through manual sketching skills to advanced computer aided design drawings. Graduates of the program are employed with architectural and engineering firms, contractors, surveyors and in governmental agencies. You may customize your degree with electives such as estimating, scheduling, applied structural analysis, surveying, contracts or the LEED® Exam prep course.
