American International College was founded on July 18, 1885. It was chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on September 18, 1885 with the purpose of educating international immigrants who were coming to America through New York. That's where our commitment to diversity, flexibility, and understanding began. They came to America to pursue a dream and AIC was founded to ensure their success. Today, AIC is a private, coeducational, four-year comprehensive institution located in the geographic center of Springfield, Massachusetts. We are interracial, interfaith, and international. Liberal arts serves as the core in all our academic offerings. The college is organized into schools of Arts, Education and Sciences; Business Administration; Health Sciences (Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy); and Continuing Education. AIC is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification; Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education; the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education; the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education; and Business Accreditation with the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.
