Course Description

The Doctor of Education program at AIC is an innovative, non-traditional doctoral program for mid-career practitioners in the fields of education, counseling, psychology, as well as higher education leadership, who already hold an accredited master's degree in these, or a closely aligned field. There are five concentrations to select from allowing you to tailor your degree to your individual interests. Each of these concentrations combine core required courses, professional seminars, and structured study overseen by a team of advisors. The 72 credit cohort-based program requires weekend residencies and is designed to be completed in four years. Encompassing four years of professional study, the program is organized into two levels. Level 1: employs core courses, professional seminars, and structured, mentored study to build upon each student’s professional interests for a total of 54 credits. Level 2: consists of at least one year and 18 credits of study to encompass the completion of a professional portfolio and the approval of an action project-oriented dissertation.
