Course Description

Conflict resolution is increasingly seen by the Ministry of Justice as an efficient, effective, economically attractive, and culturally responsive alternative to traditional court-based, legal models for settling disputes. Demand for skills in this area is increasing globally. The Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution allows you to complete advanced study and develop research knowledge, skills and capabilities in conflict resolution. Conflict resolution approaches such as negotiation, facilitation, mediation, arbitration, and therapy are useful for fields such as business, teaching, government and the human services. These approaches form the basis for the professional practice in fields such as: * Family and drug therapy * Restorative justice * Peace-making, peace-keeping and peace-building * Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) used in legal and business settings.
